Lardy cakes are a popular traditional bake, which originated from the countryside in the southern counties of England where it was traditionally eaten as a mid-afternoon snack by workers in the field. Our lardy cakes are so popular and so delicious they deserve their own mention, made from an age-old recipe they are one of our best selling cakes. Quite often when we mention the word lard to customers, it’s greeted with horrified looks, but if you’re brave enough to try, you’re reaction will soon change, because they’re simply delicious!

Fresh Bread & Rolls

Making bread requires care, technical knowledge and a great deal of commitment. At the Christmas Bakery we produce a variety of different breads to suit all tastes, from traditional white and wholemeal loaves to sourdough’s and speciality breads including our bestselling Multi-seed and Norfolk Crunch. All our breads and rolls are made with strong flours milled the traditional way from Canadian and English wheat. We work with Heygates, a family milling business since the 19th Century, who deliver twice a week from their mill in Tring. With nearly 4 tonnes of flour delivered every week, we're baking nearly 24 hours a day, 6 days a week to ensure you enjoy warm, hearty loaves!
